Canada Post Strike : Did you pause your merchant fulfilled listings? How long could it last?
Hi everyone!
I'm feeling a bit stuck with the current Canada Post strike and could use some advice. I admit, I didn't plan ahead for this, and now it's becoming hard to ignore. 😓
What are you all doing with your FBM listings during the strike? Are you pausing them or switching to other carriers? I have highly discounted commercial account with Canada Post, so changing carriers would be really costly for me.
Does anyone have an idea how long this might last? It's such bad timing during the peak season. Do you think the government might step in if this goes on for more than a week? Also, does anyone know if Amazon will protect us against negative feedback that's directly related to the strike delays?
Thanks so much for any insights! 😊

I'm a small seller who relies on Canada Post, so I'm on vacation for the next few days to see how things go. Was a bit suprised the union went for a full strike instead of rotational. I suspect the government will let it go for at least a week before doing anything.
My sales dropped off at the start of the month (down 80%), possibly buyers getting a bit worried about me using Canada Post. My last shipment (Registered Mail) was delivered Thursday (only took 1 day). Which leaves me with everything delivered. I just hope no one wants to return their purchase.

We are switching to other carriers and also trying to get as much into FBA as possible.
A week, a month, til next year. Nobody knows yet. Its quite shocking that they didn't start with an overtime ban, then rotating regional every other day strikes, then escalation to a full work stoppage.
Possibly.
Not likely as Amazon allows you to ship via many other different integrated tracking carriers.

Thanks @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7 and @Seller_y7W9ccUlauftE so much for all the insight!
In that case, I think I’ll go ahead and pause my FBM listings for now.
Quick question: would simply putting my account in vacation mode achieve that, or should I manually deactivate the listings instead?

we have good discounts with canada post but purolator is someimes cheaper. we are sending everything purolator now.
if its too much trouble to sign up, sign upto shipstation, they extend great rates.
this is the best solution i believe and gives u flexibility

already fighting negative feedback from customer claiming they didnt receive things that were enroute via canada post and were sent before the strike started.
So better ship with someone else or pause FBM
