Questions Regarding New Business Identity Verification Requirments

I have been selling on Amazon.ca for awhile, but today received some critical notifications on my account informing me that I need to provide some additional information regarding the identity verification of my company due to new regulations in Canada. It seems like I just need to provide some additional documents and info but I am a little unclear on which documents need to be submitted and have not been able to find a definitive answer in the available resources I have found, so any clarification from someone who has dealt with this or an Amazon forum admin would be much appreciated.

The notification takes me to the “identity information page” where it seems the information I need to enter is: adding all beneficial owners/directors/trustees, and providing both a “Registration Extract” document and a “Self Attestation” document. I just have a couple questions about the required documents. Firstly what type of documents are acceptable as a “Registration Extract”? Would my certificate of incorporation be adequate?

And then regarding the “Self Attestation” document, I was able to find an example which included a sort of business structure flow chart, but just wanted to confirm that the business structure section in my case would only consist of 2 boxes: myself - the sole beneficial owner, and my corporation (since there is no parent companies, other beneficial owners, or other shareholders.

Thank you very much for any assistance, I just want to confirm I am providing the correct documents before I complete the verification process.

Yes, I received the same notification today.

It seems they have changed some processes on the backend, and now everybody is required to re-verify.

I've been hit with this as well, but they have my documents saved from 2020 when I last completed verification.

This means I only have to complete the point of contact verification as Amazon already has my company attestation documents when we uploaded them last in 2020.

Wondering if I should upload a more current bank statement or just leave the one on there that is already uploaded from 2020? Address hasn't changed for our business.

See below where it is circled already in red, pre uploaded:

Is all this verification for to ensure I am a canadian citizen legally operating a canadian company?

The registration extract will be a summary of details available regarding your company which you should be able to request online through the website of your national or local company register. I would review this page on information required to sell for the Canada marketplace to better understand the overall requirements for this verification.

I would advise on reviewing this page as suggested in the thread as it will include an example of what the self-attestation document should look like. In addition to an example, it will include details regarding what the document should include depending on your situation. If you are the only beneficial owner in the company, then your document should only include you (as the owner) or anyone who might hold a senior management position, such as Chief Executive Officer.

Once you have this information, you will want to navigate towards the account health page and select the section regarding the verification. You will want to submit the documents and allow our team a chance to review and determine whether the details are verifiable. If everything is able to be verified, they will proceed in removing the banners and resolving the account concerns.

I will continue to monitor the details of this thread for any questions or updates that you might have on this situation.

In addition to an example, it will include details regarding what the document should include depending on your situation. If you are the only beneficial owner in the company, then your document should only include you (as the owner) or anyone who might hold a senior management position, such as Chief Executive Officer.

Once you have this information, you will want to navigate towards the account health page and select the section regarding the verification. You will want to submit the documents and allow our team a chance to review and determine whether the details are verifiable.
