Amazon FBA Banging my bank account with weird accounting

I am looking at an FBA sale that happened two months back and for which the buyer claims he never received the product. A refund was graciously given and I ended up losing because of an FBA non-delivery. Lets remember that I get charged a bunch of fees for every FBA transaction.

Below are the accounting entries from my seller account.

1. Amazon sells and collects 40.45

2. Amazon pays me $26.78

3. Amazon refunds the customer $80.90

4. Amazon takes from me $35.80

5. Amazon Reimburses me $24.31

So the customer, it seems, has scored $40.45 from somewhere and the product is nowhere. I am out of pocket and both Amazon and the customer have scored off the deal.

This has to be some new era accounting that has yet to be examined. Here are the entries from my account

2024-09-02 Other 701-6370243-7220236FBA Inventory Reimbursement $24.31

2024-07-23 Refund 701-6370243-72202361:43 SFR Ferrari F1 Team Race Car (2023)... -$35.80

2024-07-17 Order Payment701-6370243-72202361:43 SFR Ferrari F1 Team Race Car (2023)... $26.78

Who can explain this really odd logic that surrounds the Amazon FBA accounting system?

The difference between $35.80 and $40.45 would be 13% sales tax.

Hello @Seller_rHG3Ag4sXpee8,

Ricardo from Amazon here.

I would agree with you latest comment, it seems Customer Service refunded the buyer twice. However when looking at the transaction details for Order 701-6370243-7220236, it doesn't seem the second refund was deducted from your account.

You can check this information by looking in the Payments section, under Transaction view, entering the order ID.

Let me know if you have any questions/comments. I'll happy take another look.
