If you described and listed the item accurately, but the buyer simply no longer wants it, you have the option to refund the item price but not to refund the shipping costs.

Are you seller fulfilled? If customer uses a return reason that lists the "seller" at fault you will not have the option to charge the customer for the return shipment fee. The only work around is to file a safe t claim if the customer used an inaccurate return reason.

If the Return is "Buyer Remorse", than you do NOT have to Refund the shipping.

Unfortunately, you are No Longer able to charge a Restocking Fee as long as the item was Returned in Original Condition.

I like to contact the Buyer and let them know as soon as they initiate the Return with what they are to expect.

If it is a "Buyer Changed Mind" situation, then I let them know that they will not be receiving the postage refunded back. MANY times this alone is enough to make a Buyer reconsider Returning something that they believe they can get somewhere else for a few bucks cheaper.

One last thing, the Buyer has 90 Days to leave Feedback on the transaction, factually true or not, and you will almost certainly not be able to remove it. Remember it is possible that withholding anything MAY trigger "Negative Feedback", even if you DON'T deserve it.
