Items being returned from Amazon in large boxes

Since it became apparent that the bulk of my bad reviews were directly related to customers receiving items that had been returned and then sent out again, I changed my preferences to have the items shipped back to me. Even though this creates a small loss from extra shipping, it is totally worth the price of not getting a 1-star review because the customer received a plastic bag filled with my scattered product. Plus, I get to see what the customer returned, and this often provides insight into potential product or packaging improvements.

That being said, I am receiving these returns in large boxes, many times larger than the product, and I can't find where I can see or track what I am being charged for that shipping cost or even see if there is a way to create a claim for total impotence on Amazon's shipping efforts and request a refund on their bad shipping choices.

I am adding a picture of the most recent return. A 6.5" x 3.25 "x1.5" box of candles was shipped back to me in a 5"x5"x36" box. WTH

Any input on how to handle this is appreciated.

They had an official amazon post a while back saying they were billing sellers for the shipping difference when returns come back in boxes larger then originally sent, but the truth is most people buy stuff and return it days later, when they discarded the original box.

This results in buyers returning in the last box of whatever they got, and as your picture shows, a bigger box.

To return that little thing, in that big box, will be 20$ additional charge ( that you get to pay )

This year is out of control because sales are down so amazon allows this to happen along with all these orders Amazon is wanting you to pay for priority or express shipping or late delivery risk even though they arrive on time customer can say it did not and instantly AtoZ gives them full refund so we are now canceling all late delivery orders customer make we even had one process 39 minutes ago and was late delivery risk total BS out of control!!!!!

And Now, I just received another item I asked to be returned instead of disposed of, and it also came in an oversized 5x5x36 inch box. The item is 3x3x1 inch. So please, can a moderator respond and provide answers for this:

Where can I specifically find what I am being charged for this return cost me?

How do I address this and create a ticket to fight this charge?

How can this issue be fixed so that Amazon does not ship things back to me in boxes that are almost 100 times larger than necessary?

These are FBA items that the customer returns to Amazon, and then Amazon is boxing and returning to me because my return settings were to return to my address.
View post

If these items are set to automatically return to you, they would be labeled Unfulfillable, correct? There currently isn't a setting with FBA to have all returns sent back to the seller (both fulfillable and unfulfillable). In which case, you can double check the associated costs via the Removal order fee page linked here.
