Do we need to provide GST number to Amazon even we exceed $30K revenue?
Hi,
I have registered my business as a sole proprietorship in Canada, and I have my Business Identification Number. I will only be selling on Amazon, and I am voluntarily planning to register for GST even if my revenue is initially going to be below $30k. But even if I surpass the $30k revenue threshold, do I need to provide my GST number to Amazon? As far as we don't provide the GST number, amazon will collect and remit the taxes to the CRA directly (Correct me if I am wrong) So, is it mandatory to provide the GST number to Amazon even if I get the GST number?
Note: I won't have anything to claim as Input Tax Credit as the goods will imported from China, and the supplier is taking care of the customs, duties, and taxes. It will be basically $0 filing even if my revenue surpasses the $30K threshold.

If you don't, Amazon will collect and remit the taxes to the CRA directly, but it won't be done on your behalf. There would be no way of linking the GST/HST/PST that Amazon remits to your business. Other sellers here have had the CRA come after them for not reporting taxes on their sales.
