Qualification required---used books

Today 450 used book listings are stranded. These are used books and so we are unable to get them qualified. Is this happening to other used book sellers? It appears that Amazon does not want to sell used books anymore. This will probably put us out of business after over 10 years on Amazon.

Just a suggestion.

You must be talking about FBA (stranded)?

I do not use FBA but not too long ago I suddenly lost the ability to add listings. (This after selling for many many years.) Every book was impossible (not restricted) just NO.

It was due to having to add a deposit method for Brazil -- which had been recently added against my wishes. Even though I put it on vacation immediately, a few days later that unseen requirement for deposit method disabled my ability to add listings.

There have been lots of posts over the past year or so about sellers being stopped in their tracks for both new and used books. You can do a search (it's not easy to find stuff on here any longer though) and find dozens of posts.

It appears that some publishers have gotten their brands gated for both new and used with only a select group (or just the publisher or Amazon) allowed to sell on here.

Lots of discussions about selling elsewhere with eBay getting a lot more of the traffic from the sounds.

Previously we could get books un-gated by watching the little video and answering some questions. But now we are required to submit an invoice from the publisher and a few other documents. So how do we get an invoice for a used book published 10, 20, 30 years ago? In those cases, I simply stop trying to list the book here. Will sell it elsewhere. They are really making things difficult for 3rd party sellers here on AZ.

Hello @Seller_wQPd9AvnuHkBN- thank you for detailing this situation here on forums. Danny here, hoping I can be of assistance.

It is true that certain categories require approval to sell within, and sometimes re-approval may be required. I would recommend doublechecking your Account Health Dashboard, Performance Notifications, and the 'Catalog' section of your Seller Central account to determine if a selling application needs to be submitted. You can read more on the approvals process on this page.

I have 275 stranded and many now gated. Amazon doesn't care. Many are going to shut down the book selling on Amazon. Five years on here clean record and now we have to deal with this stuff. Big corps. are making it near impossible to slide into a niche and make money. Amazon really has become a joke to many.

And to think used booksellers actually made this company what it is today. Attached: 1998 Amazon homepage.
