Hello! I am just trying to start selling used books here and finding the entire process incredibly frustrating. When I search a book to sell a copy of it, I am getting a message that I need to "Apply" to sell it from what appears to be some other user. I really don't understand this, what's it about?

When I search a book to sell a copy of it, I am getting a message that I need to "Apply" to sell it from what appears to be some other user. I really don't understand this, what's it about?

You need to apply to sell books from that particular publisher. There is no logic behind any of it, the Amazon bots just like messing with you. Did you attempt the application? It's pretty easy. Sometimes even when you do that, you will get a message that Amazon is not accepting listings for that publisher.
If you are selling used books, be aware of ALL the applicable fees. Cheap books will not make you any money, it will all go to Amazon and shipping cost.
