Selection of amazon warehouse
Does anyone know how Amazon selects which warehouse to send a shipment to? There have been a number of times where the warehouse was all the way on the other side of the country only to have it then be re-directed all the way back to a warehouse less than a 10 minute drive from where I live. This causes additional receiving delays of 1-2 weeks at times, I'd just like to better understand the rationale.

My best practice is trying to mix the SKUs and test it. if you only have one or two products then that would not work for you

The exact same thing happened to me. They sent my inventory from Toronto to Vancouver. Then once it arrived there, they took a few SKUs (about 20%) out and the rest of the 80% inventory they again sent back to the Toronto area. It is taking close to month now to receive the inventory.

The system choses it, it has become the normal routine. If you're fortunate, it goes close to u, otherwise it goes far & in most cases comes back. Too much of same SKU may go far as they have a room for them in the West.

It's all about supply and demand, most shipments goes to East coast 1st since more population and more sales coming from that area, next in the list is AB and last BC, Usually this is the distribution i have seen the most, As u increase the quantity item will be distributed accordingly , But again its all decided by the Amazon Algo, no one actually knows for sure.
