2025 updates to Canada referral and Fulfilment by Amazon fees

As we reflect on 2024 and look ahead to 2025, we want to start by thanking you for your partnership and the tremendous innovation and customer benefit that we have delivered together. In addition to many innovations in the customer shopping experience, we introduced lower fulfilment fees for all low-priced products, lowered referral fees for low-priced apparel items and invested heavily in our supply chain services, including our storage and customer fulfilment capabilities. As you leveraged these new opportunities, we saw better in-stock levels, the fastest Prime shipping speeds to date and the largest selection for our customers. Our partnership over the last year was key to driving record-breaking sales for independent sellers in Amazon’s store, with even more sellers growing their sales year-over-year.

We also recognize these changes and new fee types introduced complexity, requiring some of you to invest in different packaging and navigate additional business decisions. With this in mind, in 2025, we want to focus on simplicity and stability, minimizing your operational burden and costs, while continuing to work together to delight customers and drive growth for your business.

While inflation continues to impact our expenses and we made the highest-ever investment in employee compensation for our frontline employees, we have also continued to make significant progress in lowering our costs to serve by driving innovation and improving efficiency, and removing defects.

As a result, we will not increase Canada referral and FBA fulfilment fees and will not introduce any new fee types. We will also lower some fees, including a large positive change for Low-Price items, and introduce additional benefits to promote new product selection growth. That said, to help ensure space is used efficiently and reduce inventory congestion, we will be increasing some Fulfilment by Amazon storage-related fees. Over the coming weeks and into 2025, we will continue to invest in our fee-related product experiences – including improving your fee calculators and fee preview tools, so that you can more easily understand and optimize your business.

Summary of 2025 fee changes

  • We’ll extend the existing Low-Price FBA fee threshold from CAD 11 to CAD 14 and increase the discount from CAD 0.55 per unit to CAD 0.80 per unit. To learn more, go to our 2025 low-price Fulfilment by Amazon fees page. This change is effective January 15, 2025.
  • We’ll increase monthly storage fees. For standard-size products, non-peak fees will increase by CAD 4 per cubic metre and peak fees by CAD 13 per cubic metre. For non-standard sizes, non-peak fees will increase by CAD 3 per cubic metre and peak fees by CAD 8 per cubic metre. We will also increase rates for the storage utilization surcharge based on your inventory performance. To learn more, go to our 2025 storage fee change page. This change is effective February 1, 2025.
  • We’ll adjust the existing aged inventory surcharge on inventory stored between 181 and 270 days. This change will help drive more efficient use of our storage and create more capacity for sellers who use storage space efficiently. The aged inventory surcharges for inventory stored 271 days or more will remain unchanged. For details, go to the 2025 aged inventory surcharge page. This change is effective May 15, 2025.
  • We are introducing more incentives for adding certain new selection in our store. We will enhance the FBA New Selection program with greater fee discounts to further support targeted segments of new selection growth. These timebound discounts will be available starting January 15, 2025 on the Seller Benefits page for eligible sellers and selection. We will regularly refresh these discounts, and they will include products that are everyday essentials, have high customer demand but lower selection breadth in our store, and popular brands where customers want greater global availability.

Other than these updates, our Canada referral and FBA fee types and rates will not change. For a summary of all 2025 fees, go to amazon.ca/selling-fee-changes.

We’re excited to continue providing you with great value and are committed to your ongoing success selling in Amazon’s store.

We appreciate your partnership and look forward to an even greater year of seller success in 2025.

It's not tremendous when we have over 200 listings suppressed for glitches in Amazon's systems with barcodes, asins, and pricing, where the customers have to buy elsewhere because they can not buy it on Amazon.ca because Seller Support does not know how to fix the issue, and all the AI Robots changing the categories of items to the wrong category, putting up FBA commission fees which means we have to up the cost of the product to the customer.

Hazmat FBA storage has only gone down in Canada this year and has not been expanded, and you still don't have all the available Canadian carriers integrated for FBM Tracking. Purolator has been broken since April! I still have an open case since April!
