FBA Returns & Reimbursement HELP!!! Do Customer Induced Damage FBA Returns Ever Get Compensated Back To Sellers?
Customer Induced Damage Returns For FBA
I’m so confused about this and sorry if I sound like a complete newbie but I was an FBM seller until June of 2024 which is when. I started FBA.
Now I have the Fulfillment Centers marking my buyer returns for my stuff as:
Customer Induced Damage :
- How do I get compensated for this?
- I was shocked to see that I can’t file a SAFE-T claim and when I reached out to seller support they kept pushing me to remove my inventory from FBA before they discarded it. The most frustrating part of that is that I have FBA Grade and Resell turned on but offcourse that doesn’t seem like the best option now that I read more about it.Has anyone used this? How do you feel about it?
- I don’t understand why I was even being pressured into taking my inventory back NOW when I had my settings set to automatically go through the liquidation or refurbishment process. Why did the inventory not just automatically go into this process? Or are they ignoring my settings and generalizing their responses.
- I was told by seller support that once the refund for the items have been issued to the buyer and they received my inventory back into the fulfillment center that they would determine who is at fault for the damages and compensate me if it’s within policy. Well, there are policy conflicts when I have read that “Customer Induced Damage FBA returns are not eligible for reimbursement”. Then I’ve also read that they would be automatically reimbursed. Then I also read that I can not file any cases about this situation until after 60 days from the return request.
- Well, I have more than one product like this and one is at FBA fulfillment center and the other is in my possession. For the one in my possession- the buyer LIED about their return reason (omg! Surprise, surprise! Not shocked…🤨😒). The buyers return reason was that it didn’t meet their expectations because this PRODUCT DID NOT HAVE AN ON/ OFF SWITCH! Well, I attached an image of the product for you guys to be the judge of whether that’s true or false.
- I also attached a screenshot of the notification I get when I checked the reimbursement status..
- So I’m curious- what makes my item not reimbursable whenever I sold it as brand new, the buyer completely destroyed, the packaging and the product itself.. like they literally broke it.. I don’t feel comfortable posting photos in the damages because I just received it back yesterday and I don’t wanna ruin my chances of seeking reimbursement for this product. Please mind you that I did remove this from my FBI inventory because of seller support making it seem like this product was not going to be eligible for the liquidation or refurbishment process by consistently telling me that if I don’t remove my inventory within the next 14 days of them receiving it that they will be disposing of it.
- Since I couldn’t get anyone from seller support to help me with getting photos of my “customer induced damage” inventory from the fulfillment center directly to know what’s wrong with it… I still was truly curious about several factors such as if this product was defective and didn’t have that on off switch.. which wasn’t true. So then I was also curious about what kind of damage it was and how picky FBA might be. (I actually agree with them - Buyer destroyed the packaging and the product! But it’s not like the fulfillment center treated my item and you better… they sent it back in a box that was 5 times the size of my item and put NO AIRPILLOWS and no packaging paper in the return box probably adding to the buyers damages before I got to see it!)
- Is there any way to request more details about why they mark our items as customer induced damages on a case by case scenario?
- How do we get photos from the fulfillment center?
- Why would my brand new and now broken item be ineligible for a reimbursement???

Hello @Seller_LeoWyIoEirlTH, unfortunately, Amazon does not accept responsibility and will not reimburse you for returned items that are damaged by a customer.
