Buyers can leave negative feedback for cancelled orders?

Hello,

We cancelled an order from a customer thinking he would not be allowed to leave feedback

Apparently, I was wrong? Why is this a thing?

Anyone can escalate for order 701-5198680-6957064 ?

I read the following from a moderator on the US forum :

Hello @Vend_LiaDia_Inc

Unfortunately, buyers are able to leave feedback on a canceled order. That seems illogical, and sellers have posted about it frequently in these forums. I will ask for a review of the feedback and see if my escalation will result in removal. I cannot promise the outcome. I will post back here when I get a response from that business team.

Thanks, Susan

Welcome to the club of the hundreds of sellers who have received a Negative for cancelling a transaction at a buyers request. One of my negatives was that I did not refund the buyer after they requested the cancelation. Amazon told me they were never even charged, however, they said the negative was valid and did not remove it. This market place is insane, so prepare to watch your mental health suffer from the direct experience of selling here.

A few things:

1) When asked if the buyer requested it, you said "Yes, but not directly from his buyer account, by communications.? What do you mean by "by communications"? Can't figure that out....

2) Of course, buyers can (and should be able to) leave feedback after requesting a cancellation. Not to mention, I've also seen positive feedback left for sellers who cancelled orders, as requested.

It might sound like a "crazy" thought, but I think the reason that feedback option is there is, say for example, a cancellation request is ignored (by the seller) and shipped out. Or, the seller claims the item was already sent out, only to show (via tracking) that it was not shipped out, when the cancellation was requested.

Some sellers might think the buyer might not want to go through the trouble of returning something upon receiving it; and decide to keep it instead. Also, if the seller wrongfully claims the item was already shipped, then the buyer might be held responsible for paying to return the item, has to pay re-stocking fees, etc (and decide to keep it instead).

Not saying I agree with the feedback option, but merely trying to explain it. And when you're an honest seller, these reasons might not be as obvious. It seems to me that the feedback option is there, as an added protection for the buyer.

Clearly, the biggest problem is, if buyers are leaving negative feedback when a cancellation request is immediately honoured by the seller.

3) It might be easiest to contact the buyer and ask for the removal, in these circumstances.

Good luck.

(So, how exactly did your buyer request the cancellation? And what did the negative feedback say?)

I just had a customer leave a negative feedback a 1 star because they had to go to a Canada Post office to pick up their parcel and sign for it. The last comment was " I had to stand in line for 20 Mins"

I appealed the feedback as it is a negative feedback against Amazon's own policy that orders need a signature.

Of course it was denied as buyers are allowed to give negative feedback as long as it doesn't break the three golden rules.

Well the feedback should go against Amazon policy and not the product that I sell.

Hello @Seller_xJx7vH6fvZFD9,

Ricardo from Amazon here.

Yes, buyer can leave feedback even if an order is cancelled.

I searched your account and I see the feedback you are referring to, however I didn't saw any messages in the buyer-seller section.

As a reminder any communication outside of Amazon will not be accepted as proof.

In case you do have evidence, feel free to reply back and I'll gladly look into this.
