Shipping holiday
why is a Monday a July 3 not a shipping holiday? Canada post is not open today for the holiday. I have some orders with one day handling that Amazon says I need to ship today because they are not counting today as a shipping holiday.

No shipping companies open, Amazon needs to get its act together for Canada

In your seller options, if you sell Fulfilled by Merchant, you should be able to set certain days as shipping holidays for your storefront. Under Shipping settings, then General shipping settings, you'll see options to edit holidays.
I should add, I think its set up that way because while Canada Post is closed for the long weekend Monday, other businesses and shipping/delivery companies can be open normal hours.

Canada Post is closed today but their postal counters (in drugstores, etc…) are open. So you can still print your labels and drop them off at the counter and get them checked into the system. It’s not perfect because you still lose one ship day but at least you won’t show as having missed the ship by date.

Upload tracking today and drop off tomorrow! It is simple as that. We do this with every holiday and it has not affected our metrics. You are correct, Amazon is clueless on the closure dates around "weekend" stat holidays.

Hmm. My orders from June 30th have a ship by date of July 4th at 11:59pm, not sure what the problem is

Nothing new about amazon.ca having problems managing Canadian holidays -- especially if they do not match those in the USA. New Years, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Canada Day, T&R Day, Christmas and Boxing Day are the ones you need to pay attention to if your main carrier is Canada Post (although some other carriers can also be effected). Most carriers have a schedule of holidays you can check.
(1) buy your shipping labels online and confirm your order tracking before the amazon deadline. Then give the packages to the carrier the next day.
(2) use a Canada Post retail outlet if the regular post office is closed. Most RPO's were open July 3. And then confirm your orders the same day.
(3) Set your shipping to 2 or 3 days around holidays to give yourself some extra shipping room.
If you are a "professional" level seller, you have some additional options to use regarding shipping. Check them out.

Amazon really dropped the ball on this one. In addition to this, I believe they also changed some default settings for handling time. Our handling time used to be "1-2 days". Now, by default, it was changed to "1 Day" some time late last month. Upon checking the settings, it only allows for 1 or 2 day choices. No "1-2" day like before, so something was definitely changed on their end and our handling was defaulted to "1 Day"
I called Amazon seller support and they basically told me there's nothing the can or will do. Wait 30 days and the late shipment rate will refresh. And told me to change my handling time before holidays to prevent this from happening again. Useless.

We also un-surprisingly got hit with this. Wasn't a problem last year.
Its an error for sure but their team is refusing to acknowledge their screw up.
We have 2 day lead on ours, and we had a Standard Order from Sunday that was saying it needed to ship by 3AM July 4th.

Hi everyone.
If you are at risk due to LSR (Late Shipment Rate) and was affected by the system's poor handing of Canada Day. I recommend you all open cases and be PERSISTENT. Seller support wants to hide it under the rug, but this has far reaching consequences for other holidays. We need to push them to do a better job. Especially for holidays that end up with monday or friday make up closures.
I escalated my case and asked them to check into folks that were affected in this forum thread. At this point its a matter of principle. Not recognising Canada Day is really absurd.
Good Luck.
