Unjust Suspension for Inauthentic Complaint - FBA Inventory Affected Despite Purchase from Amazon.com"

Hello everyone,

I am a seller using the Amazon FBA method. Today, I received a message stating that my Amazon account has been temporarily deactivated due to a claim that one of the products I sold is counterfeit. I purchased the product directly from Amazon.com, and the seller was Amazon itself. How can a product that I bought from Amazon be accused of being counterfeit?

On top of that, any product that enters the Amazon.ca warehouses is inspected and added to my inventory. If the product wasn't authentic, how could it have been added to my inventory?

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I would appreciate your feedback.

You bought from an online retailer, so you don't have a valid wholesale supply chain.

Amazon warehouse workers don't inspect the products you send in for authenticity. Their job is to receive and stow and pack. You are supposed to be sending in non-counterfeit product with a valid wholesale supply chain before it goes to the warehouse. It is not Amazon's job to check when it gets received, that is on you.

You would have to wait for the review to be completed to see if Amazon will allow you to continue to sell on Amazon. But I haven't heard of any online arbitragers like yourself getting their accounts reactivated for at least the last few years, as what you have done is against Amazon Policy.

I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I did not purchase the product from just any seller on Amazon.com. I bought the product directly from Amazon.com itself, with Amazon being both the seller and the distributor.

As mentioned by @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7, this again is a retail purchase. Regardless of using amazon as the source, you did not appropriately source these as a wholesale purchase. When you buy something as a buyer on amazon, you will receive a receipt, or an order confirmation that only shows amazon as the supplier. We do not disclose our source thus you with your current sourcing documents cannot verify the supply chain, making these invalid sourcing documents that meet our requirements.

Per our responsible sourcing requirements:

  • Copies of invoices, receipts or other similar documents that demonstrate where your products are produced or manufactured

These documents:

  • Should reflect the sales volume of your product across all Amazon marketplaces in the last 365 days
  • Should demonstrate your product’s full supply chain
  • Should include contact information for the supplier(s) and the original manufacturer. We may contact suppliers or manufacturers to verify the documents
  • Your documents should be able to trace your products to the original manufacturer even if you did not purchase them directly from the xoriginal manufacturer. This may require requesting additional invoices or supply chain documentation from your supplier if you are not sourcing directly from the manufacturer.
  • You may remove pricing information, but the rest of the document must be visible to enable adequate review of the documents you provide. For ease of our review, you may highlight or circle the ASIN(s) under review.

Although we do accept documents outside of invoices, we as a retailer do not provide this information on your receipt, again making them invalid and not meeting the above mentioned requirements. If you have provided those receipt, you can also compare them to our invoice requirements which also offers common reasons documents are rejected.
