Amazon joining listings taking buybox share

Recently I noticed Amazon has recently hopped onto a listing of a product I'm selling. It's been a great seller and as expected, other 3rd party seller eventually got on it. But now all of a sudden, Amazon has joined. They have never sold this product in it's complete history of being offered on Amazon.

Like c'mon Amazon, what is this. With all the products you sell and the amount of people paying monthly subs to sell on the platform. Why get on an ASIN and start taking buy box share and profits from us. It's annoying seeing this, it's like the big corporation is trying to take food off the little guys plate.

It has been like that for decades on amazon. Amazon's selling division is always looking at the actual sales data created by 3rd party sellers to spot the next good thing to buy and sell.

as another seller pointed out - Amazon has all the data and knows when and where to jump at opportunities. That being said, it could be a temporary listing to clear inventory - I've seen Amazon jump on listings to clear out (someone's) obviously 'lost' merchandise. Then once sold out they leave again
