Amazon considers my price to be too high

My problem is, that I'm about to launch my comic book, and a large community is eagerly waiting for it. Based on my competitors, I set the price at $25 for my work, knowing that I am the author and publisher. However, my comic book is deemed "ineligible as a featured offer" because they consider it too expensive. The maximum price I can set is $8. At this price, I don't even make a profit. What should I do? They keep asking for proofs (of what, I don't know). I've sent plenty of images, contacts, and evidence proving that I am indeed the creator of this book, and that it is unique. I've been dealing with this issue for a week, it's crazy.

If they will let you list it, but just won't get the FO (BB), I would say to go ahead and price it as you see fit. Once a few copies sell (and if there are people looking for it, it will sell without the BB), then Amazon may give you the BB. Or they may not; but at least you're getting appropriate pay for your work.
If they won't make the listing active due to the price, that is more severe, and I know of no good solution.

Michelle here again. I have found the issue that is causing your price issue with your listing. You have set the List Price as $2.00, so our system is thinking that you have way overpriced your comic.
To update this, click on Edit on the right side of your Inventory page, then update the List Price section to at least 25 or higher. If you set it higher, this will allow you to have the reference price displayed. You can learn more about that here. Once you update this information, it may take a bit to go through the system, but then the error will go away.

What has to happen is the resetting of the "reference price" which is apparently still being impacted by your original $2.00 list price. That may go away on its own in time or Amazon might eventually delete it.
You could also try entering higher numbers into the minimum and maximum price boxes on the Pricing Health page. Another possible way would be to list your comic in another condition(s) which would give you a chance to provide another $30.00 list price and presumably drive up the average and increase the reference price.

Unfortunately no one really knows how the Fair Pricing bot works except the internal team who programmed it and none of us have any way of contacting them. We are left to cobble together our collective experience of what it is doing and how we might be able to work around it. I will say in my experience it is not well programmed and it often gives high price errors that are way below actual market prices. Couple of observations:
1. Changing the list price is probably not going to work, we have done this in the past and it had no effect. I think Amazon uses this for discount purposes but pretty sure Fair Price bot does not use it.
2. Changing the high low limits, again we have done this and it does not help. This will prevent you from making a mistake but the bot does not appear to look at this.
3. Amazon constantly changes who and where they find comps from and if they can't find them appear to make them up. I think they started using eBay recently, so listing there might help. I have seen them use comps from other websites that were OOS; maybe try Walmart as well.
You might want to try ABEBooks, we are not book sellers but I have heard many sellers who are that this site works well for them. Goo luck and let us know how it goes.

If you are the only seller of this book, then the BB shouldn't; t matter much.
