Suddenly Gated from "CREST" Brand (Been Selling the Brand for 5+ Years)

Hello

I have been selling the CREST branded products for the past 5+ years now with no issues. I source the product from authorized wholesale dealers. Suddenly as of today, I'm gated in that brand. I'm not even given an option to apply for Amazon authorization to sell it by providing distributor invoices, I am simply blocked from the brand. It appears other sellers are able to list against the brand without authorization, even new sellers.

The affected ASINs are:

B0BT6YYMC8, B07195Q5GP, B097F76FYJ, B08VQBLW59, B08SKF69RW, B082G3QF22, B01MRX9US8

Can a moderator please look into this to see what the glitch is with my account? I have also created a Seller Support Case with ID: 16773791281, although as always there is no useful information provided other than generic replies.

Thanks

Hey @Seller_zflMolnVo8Ayk,

I wanted to reach out about your recent attempt to list a product on Amazon. I know it can be frustrating, but we had to put the brakes on this one.

Amazon is pretty strict about what can be sold on the platform. We're always trying to keep things safe and legit for our customers. Some products are a bit trickier than others - they might have issues with authenticity or how they're sourced.

In your case, it looks like your account doesn't quite meet the bar for selling this particular item just yet. This could be due to a few things:

  • Your account's overall performance
  • How the brand typically distributes its products
  • Or a few other factors we take into consideration

Don't worry, though! This isn't necessarily a permanent "no." If things change, and you become eligible to sell this product, you'll see an "Apply to sell" button next to it when you're adding products in Seller Central.

If you want to dig into the nitty-gritty of our policies and which products need special approval, check out our "Products that require approval" page.

Keep up the good work on your account, and you might be able to list products like this in the future.

Crest, owned by Procter & Gamble (P&G), you are playing with fire here, since you sold it before, doesn't mean that brand owner or manufacture wants to limit or restrict resell of their products.

We sold brands before here as well, problem becomes when Distributors are stuck on massive inventory and cannot move products, they list or resell it, to clear inventory, and 3rd party resellers, don't have about brand value, but want to make quick 5-10% profit, which under values the brand. So brands go to Amazon, sign a deal that either they control what can be sold, or eliminate 3rd party resellers. Or sell as Vendor directly to Amazon Canada, so Amazon handles the brand for them.

Because it is cheaper on Amazon doesn't mean brand owner will like that. Here is something we learned about Crest Products or any kind of Oral Products. Technically you are not supposed to be reselling any of these types products that go into your mouth. Meaning that distributors supposed to be selling this to big box stores, which take responsibility if anything happens that person ingests the product, or dentist office, as they are technically approved, authorized people to sell this to customers.

Saying that, there are grey areas. remember amazon is not what it used to be 10 years ago, many things changed, and they changed for worse. Not saying about gated things, but all of the fees, Low stock inventory fee. Amazon fault that they 2 weeks to receive products. You stock up more products that wont sell, Long term storage fees. It is becoming more difficult to run a smooth business. Don't get on the topic of their automated bots, that flag stuff because AI is not smart enough to understand or distinguish products.

Few years ago we were selling Hair Mousse, bot flagged it as FOOD product, when talking to support, they don't understand that it is Hair Product that goes in Hair, and millions of people use it. They assume it is eating.

We spent more than half a day, dealing with Amazon incompetence, fixing their issues, because 100 other sellers are listing under that listing, it is our responsibility to fix it.

Brand Owner - Another story, we deal with few brand owners, changed we submit should be getting to brand owner for approval, brand owner never gets it. After spending months with brand owner and amazon support, we found out that there was another email contact attached to that brand, however, it never showed up in the brand owner account.

I could go on and on and on. Why do we still sell. There are customers all over Canada, that want product and amazon is the only place so far, they can order it from.
