Why to have a pending trademark affixed on a product before it is even registered with Amazon?

Hello Everyone,

I am somewhat confused about submitting my pending brand name to Amazon Brand Registry. If there is a pending application with the local IP office, I know I can still go ahead and register it with Amazon. But it asks for an image showing that trademark printed on a product! Which means, I will have to ask my supplier to print it on the product before I submit my brand name to Amazon! Is this how it is really meant to work? What if Amazon says I cannot use that brand? Then what will happen to that bunch of products labelled with the trademark and ready to be shipped to Amazon FBA?

That's correct. Your items have to be branded and you have to hold the proof. The brand label needs to be permanently affixed to the product.

Hello @Seller_R1D4eckg9pilk,

Thank you for contacting Amazon Forums and @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7thank you for sharing your answer.

Regarding the questions What if Amazon says I cannot use that brand? Then what will happen to that bunch of products labelled with the trademark and ready to be shipped to Amazon FBA?

Amazon recommends to send the products until they are fully approved to prevent this type of situations. In case you are working with Amazon on getting a brand approved, you should wait until the brand is approved to start selling the products. Therefore, if the brand is not approved and you have products at the warehouse, you might need to make a Removal or Disposal order. Here is a video regarding both processes Removals and Disposals.

Sincerely, Jurgen_Amazon
