I don’t know if it’s required, but I would recommend it. If Amazon doesn’t deduplicate - which you should be aware would only be for the same exact spelling AND match type - then you have more work to do later to collate the data on those duplicates each time. Better a little bit more work now than a lot more work each time you analyze the campaign later.
FYI, you can easily deduplicate in Excel or Google Sheets. Just google “deduplicate rows Excel” or “deduplicate rows Google sheets” to find tutorials.

Each ad group within the campaign can have its own set of keywords which may be duplicates of keywords in other ad groups under the same campaign. However, at the ad group level, it will not allow you to add duplicate keywords of the same match type.
