Free food on Amazon.ca

To all of you food related items sellers.

How do you deal with the "FREE FOOD ACT" of Amazon? I'm curious, a new, but may not be for long seller on Amazon. Just got my first "Different item" authorized refund request with FBA. How can a bag of coffee beans be a different item?

Is there a way to have it returned to the seller address for inspection?

Should we go over our national health obligation? Amazon is greater than health Canada?

I won't talk too loud for now, but maybe, somebody is enjoying my life sustaning activity for me. Next would be a marketing program for the "FREE FOOD ACT"... really a joke

Hello, @Seller_XPsEiSN170XhM,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I reviewed your account, and I was not able to find a return request in your FBA reports. Maybe it was for a different country and not Canada?

Anyway... a bag of coffee beans could be a "different item" if the customer was not expecting the actual coffee beans, because they didn't read, or the description was not clear, and so on. We can find many explanations. What you can do to avoid customers to be confused is to be clear in the product name, product description, and pictures. I'd like to think there's always an opportunity to make improvements.

If you already have all this information in your detail page, then you should allow some room for this type of request to arrive from time to time, as customers may just select the incorrect option for the return request.

To make an inspection of your item, you may create a removal order. You can see information about this here. You would be able to confirm if the item was incorrectly labeled, for example, or as I mentioned, if it was a customer error when submitting the request.

When you suspect that your items were incorrectly labeled, you can contact our Seller Support team to request a bin check. You can find the details here.

Just to make sure I'm addressing all your concerns, Amazon does not override any country laws, so if you find a gap in any of our policies, please make sure to contact our Seller Support team to let us know, so we can make all and any necessary adjustments, along with our Legal team.

Best regards,

Sunnie

Well that's not totally true about overriding a country's laws. @Sunnie_Amazon

Canadian Government regulations for Consumer Containers and Labels is a self regulating compliance, and there are NO laboratories that can test for this regulation in Canada, because there are no testing standard regulations for them to test. And Amazon is overriding that for SOR/2001-269 (Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001) and shutting down listings. We have 124 product compliance requests that are not required to legally sell in Canada.

Canadian Federal Government law does not make an individual business to pay a laboratory for each and every product to be sold in Canada, but Amazon seems to think they do. There have been many posts in this forum regarding this issue over the last 3 months.
