Inventory File Upload Issue

Hi all,

We’re having a bit of an issue lately. We’ve contacted Amazon Seller Support in regards to it, though they were absolutely no help whatsoever. So I thought I’d see if anyone on the forums had any insights/suggestions which may help.

We’ve been selling on Amazon for over a decade, and for all that time we’ve always been using Homebase software for inventory management and then uploading our inventory files in UIEE format, using Amazon’s “Add Products Via Upload” feature. It’s always worked fine, except for the occasional matching errors or drafts that we’d have to fix here and there.

But this past month, our inventory files are no longer working to update our Amazon inventory at all. We’re getting the following error message:

Error 99051
The submission is made using “BOOKS_1973_AND_LATER” Product Type template which is no longer active. Please download a new template and re-submit using one of the following Product Type template(s) - “ABIS_BOOK” for a valid submission.

From what we can tell on our end, Amazon no longer seems to be working with UIEE format files, and instead strictly wants Excel format or TSV files.

It’s been a bit tricky for us to find a solution, because we also sell on other platforms, we’ve been using Homebase and uploading the same UIEE inventory files across the board on each of the online sales platforms we use. We somewhat loathe the idea of having to switch to using separate inventory processes just for Amazon. For the time being, as a work-around, I’ve been doing inventory management “manually” in seller central, which duplicates work and so kind of sucks.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Or a similar problem? Anyone else who is doing the “Add Products Via Upload” thing, what file format types are you using that work for you? Any ideas, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if that’s all a very TLDR too-wordy ramble. :frowning:

We are able to export from Homebase in CSV format, which we’ve tried, but when we get the Processing Report after uploading, it still comes back with “number of records processed: 0”, with no changes to our inventory.

Thank you for your reply lefties, much appreciated.

I am having the same issue. Tried on a few occasions to reach a solution with seller support. Don’t have the time to do every book individually. If anyone does find a solution, I would love to know.
Thanks!

If/when we are able to finally figure out a solution, I’ll post it in this thread.

No, we’ve just been uploading the homebase csv file directly to Amazon.

I’d been hoping that we could find a work-around so that we wouldn’t have to be copying all the data from the Homebase file into the template before uploading. But I guess that’s probably what we’re going to have to do, isn’t it? Urgh. So much more work than just directly uploading the UIEE files.

Looking again at the error report for the upload we tried sending in CSV, it looks like you’re right and that’s what we’ll have to do. The errors are:

90012 The required sku field is missing from the file. To correct this error, download the template again and use the new copy, or insert the required field into your existing file.

90061 The Book ID,ISBN,Listing Type,Title,Author,Illustrator,Keywords,Book Condition,Jacket Condition,Binding Type,Language,Signature Type,Edition,Printing,Volume,Publisher,Publisher Year,Publisher Place,Size,Weight,Weight Units,Page Count,Inventory Location,Quantity,Status,Price,Cost,Description,Synopsis,Private Notes,Categories,Catalogs, field heading is invalid, so values in this field were ignored. To correct this error, download the template again and use the new copy, or fix the field heading in your existing file.

Yeah, we’ll have to be doing daily uploads of our inventory files in order to keep Amazon synchronized with our other sales platforms. I think the way to go will be looking into maybe paying for some new inventory software that’ll automate that Amazon process for us while also working with the other websites.

Thank you! You’ve been a huge help.

Hi all,

Just thought I’d give an update on this since another seller, Werdz_Quality has mentioned dealing with the same issue.

It looks like Amazon staff has been working on things on their end, as they are back to accepting our UIEE files now (we’d been periodically testing sending the files in UIEE and other formats to see if anything had changed).

We’re having a much larger proportion of our listings “fail” as Drafts with incomplete information or matching errors. But at least they’re getting through! It is frustrating though that as one problem gets solved, other issues are being created. Oh well.
