Negative Balance in Expenses Section - Funds Held Despite Active Listings and No Pending Orders
Hello Amazon Seller Community,
I need your help with an issue I recently experienced with the checkout dashboard and would like to learn from the experience of other merchants who have been in a similar situation.
Problem Detail:
Account Type: Standard FBA and FBM accounts
Store Status: My CA and US stores are active
Issue Start Date: By the end of August 2024
Current Issue:
My seller account status is set to “Active” and all listings are active.
I have no pending or unshipped orders on the account. There is also no order status pending shipping confirmation.
However, my payment dashboard shows a high amount of negative balances in “Expenses” or “Other”. These balances have not been released and continue to be held in the account.
When I contacted Amazon Support, I was given a specific payment date, but there was no change in the date. The funds are still being held and showing a negative balance.
Steps Taken:
I checked the account for any issues and all shipping confirmations have been issued.
I checked the listing status and set it to “Active”.
I contacted Amazon Support for payment dates and release of funds but no resolution.
I searched the forums but did not find a solution to a similar situation.
My question:
Are there any other sellers experiencing a similar situation? Is it normal for these negative balances to be held in “Expenses” and not released? What can be done to ensure that these funds are released?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions or experience sharing. Before reaching out to support again, I'd like to hear from the community about their experiences with this issue.
Best regards,

A negative number showing in Expenses (on the Payments Dashboard) is money you owe amazon and is subtracted from your payout.

Negative balances held in "Expenses" is money YOU owe Amazon, not money they release to you.

Hello @Seller_0R1oUZteBvtQo,
This is Josh from Amazon. Thank you for contacting our Forums!
Thank you for sharing your concern about the negative balances in your payment dashboard, particularly in the "Expenses" or "Other" categories. I understand this situation is frustrating, and I appreciate your detailed explanation.
Your issue may be related to two aspects of Amazon's payment system:
Reserve holds: Amazon may withhold a portion of your funds to cover potential chargebacks or refunds. You can find more information about this in the "About reserve holds" article.
Other charges: The negative balance in "Expenses" or "Other" could be related to various fees or adjustments. These might include subscription fees, refunds, chargebacks, or other account-level charges. You can learn more about these in the "Funds availability" article.
I recommend reviewing both these resources carefully. If you still have questions after reviewing them, please contact Seller Support for a specific review of your account, as they can provide more detailed information about your particular charges and balances.
Best regards,
Josh
