Deferred Payment Instead of Payment Released
Hi everyone,
I wanted to bring up an issue I've been experiencing recently and see if anyone else is going through something similar or if a moderator could shed some light on the situation.
For the past few days, instead of seeing "Payment Released" for some of my orders, I'm seeing "Deferred Payment." This raised a red flag, so I reached out to Seller Support. During a call, they explained that Amazon is doing this because of the upcoming peak season. They mentioned that it’s related to potential shipping delays and the possibility of buyers canceling orders, so Amazon is holding off on releasing the payments.
Honestly, this explanation doesn’t quite make sense to me. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue? And if so, has anyone received a similar explanation? I'd also appreciate it if a moderator could confirm if this is indeed the reason behind the deferred payments.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Yes, others are experiencing this. Here's a thread that has quite a few replies -- though at the time of this writing, still no response from a mod. 100% of my sales are now in deferred transactions as of 10/01/2024
ETA - I see that you already posted on that thread, but maybe the link will help someone else.

WTHeck is with this?!?! A business customer just bought for $220 and amazon is charging my bank for the postage and I get to wait 30 45 days for payment? Thats 2-3 times what it was. They no longer take the postage costs from the buyer payment?!?! I dont want this.... I cant afford to ship books out for 30 45 days and pay all the postage during that period. WTH?!?!
Invoiced orders placed by Amazon Business customers are deferred while awaiting payment by the buyer. These transactions will be released after the customer completes their invoice payment, which typically occurs within 30-45 days after the order date. Note that these orders are also subject to delivery date policies, but in most cases, the invoice due date will be later than the reserve period.

same here, since 10/1 all our order payments have been deferred. Extremely frustrating and trying to find out answers and why this is happening.

The same is happening to me. Since 10/1/2024 all of my sales are now in deferred transactions. No clue as to why this is happening.

Same here, since 10/1 ALL my payments have been deferred. I have been an excellent seller for 16 years. I need that money to pay for my operation expenses. I am literally living week-to-week here and this is going to royally screw me.

Wonder how much interest Amazon collects on those "deferred" payments? I guess you'll find your answer there...
I mean, Amazon is now a total scammers paradise and that is probably causing a downturn in revenues. So all these new "policies" are designed to increase revenues without upsetting "customers." Imagine the backlash if Amazon cracked down on scammers, they would never "shop" on Amazon again

I am FBA and I have 76 pending orders in average 20 .
SS explanation to me that Amazon verifuing credit card payments
Can you imagine you pay for an order by credit card and it verify right away otherwise order would be placed.

I haven't received any deferred payment messages, but the proceeds from my last few sales don't seem to have been credited to me, or else they're coming really slowly.
