First we filed the safe_T claim asking for all the shipping due since the Return is marked: "No Longer Needed". Safe_T give us back OUR original shipping costs.
Since the return is: "No Longer Needed", we should receive all the shipping costs and restock so we file an appeal. Safe_T gives us the outrageous amount of $12.14 that the amazon return shipping label cost. Phewwwww! The anxiety!
We have granted your appeal against the return of order 113-3294503-5027445.
USD 12.14 has been credited to your account towards the return label costs.
But yesterday we got an "adjustment" for this shipping cost worth: Shipping services purchased through Amazon Adjustment -$0.46.
We added that to the appeal before the safe_T decision was issued and we got this:

1. "No longer needed", Bought by mistake" in amazon policy says the seller does not pay shipping charges (gets reimbursed). Shipping services purchased through Amazon Adjustment -$0.46. This is a shipping charge. Why is Safe_T not reimbursing this???? This is part of the shipping label.
What is the point of knowing an "adjustment" or "other" charge if amazon is still going to charge it and we will not get reimbursed for it?

I also have a second safe_T claim where the buyer used and abused the book, then falsely misused the return reason claiming "not as described" 114-1408895-9107431. SAFE-T thankfully saw fault and gave me shipping and restock BUT ignored the shipping adjustment charges.

I've never been able to understand why amazon insists on using UPS for returns when a book was sent Media Mail.
MM is cheaper, and for the vast majority of customers, I suspect would be easier than having to drop of a UPS package.

so ya'll mod's helped us make sure we don't get "adjustments" & "other" charges randomly 2,3,5 months down the road for refunds (btw thank you for that).
Here two charges came a couple of days after the safe_t claim was filed, we updated it promptly and then nothing. Denied.. and denied=

This is not Seller Fulfilled Order. It's an amazon Fulfilled return.
Amazon chooses the label and the service that it sends the prepaid (that amazon takes from my payments account) label.

Prepaid returns for seller-fulfilled orders
Amazon provides customers with prepaid return shipping labels on your behalf through Buy Shipping services. US sellers are automatically enrolled in the prepaid returns label program per Amazon's Return policy.
There are SKU-based exemptions to this program, but these are for high-price items or specific categories like extra-large items.
Prepaid return shipping services
UPS and USPS provide all return shipping for seller-fulfilled orders through Buy Shipping services. As a general rule, USPS labels are issued for items under a pound, UPS for over a pound.
Media Mail is not used for prepaid return labels. Some sellers choose to set returnless resolutions rules for their heavier or cheaper items.
If you see a prepaid label issued for the 'wrong' carrier, please check the weight associated with the item. I just checked the weight for the item ordered in 114-1408895-9107431 and it was over a pound.

I see that you asked about carrier adjustments and delays preventing them from being including in SAFE-T Claims.
For SAFE-T Claims the cost of return shipping refers only to the label charge and not to any surcharges or other carrier shipping adjustments. These are separate charges and are the responsibility of the seller.
Orders and use cases that are not eligible for SAFE-T reimbursement:
"Shipping adjustment charges are not eligible for SAFE-T claims (for example, in cases where a buyer sends back the return in a different or bigger box)."
I also see that you asked about one specific carrier adjustment: UPS Remote/Delivery Area Surcharges. The good news is that as of this past December 28, "RAS/DAS" are no longer applied as carrier adjustments, but are instead included in the original label cost.
If UPS has designated your ZIP Code as a surcharge area, the surcharge will be added to prepaid label costs.
Finally, for 'buyer-faulted' returns, those label costs are withheld from the refund.
