Do you need a company registration number to sell on FBA?

I’m trying to reactive my seller account from a few years ago. The reactivation form is making choose what type of business I have. (Public, private, state owned business or charity) no matter which option I choose it ask for a company registration number. Do I need a registration number to sell on FBA? I called support 4 times, the first 3 reps didn’t say anything about me needing a number, but the last rep said it was required. If anyone has any experience with this or can help in any way I would appreciate it. I can’t believe every seller on Amazon has a registered company.

A lot of things have changed on amazon. Have you studied all the changes so that you don't immediately get deactivated again? Like the fact that doing retail or online arbitrage is no longer allowed and any brand name you want to list will require actual invoices (not receipts) as well as a letter authorizing you to sell that brand on amazon.

I believe that the Inform Act is specifying that you need an actual business with a confirmed address and all the tax information so that Uncle Sam can make sure he is getting his.

Hello @Seller_UxAcsgis30Ye9

Thanks for reaching out to Amazon Forums. Regarding the company registration number, this is the number you were issued when you registered your business. This unique identifier isn’t the same as your employer identification number (EIN).

Even though you don’t need to be an LLC, registered business, or otherwise incorporated to sell in the Amazon store. Select None, I am an individual for your business type, and we’ll update the registration process to collect relevant information.

Here are some forum threads that discuss that topic and can offer guidance.

If you need further assistance, remember to contact our seller support team, who will help you set up your account.

Best,
