Setting up a quantity variation

I sell chairs which are very expensive to ship because of the size of each item. When selling in quantity I can nest chairs together. This makes the price for multiples very advantageous for the customer. When I set up a variation with quantity, do I need separate UPC numbers for each different package quantity?

I ship FBM and stock the chairs in bulk. For us, this is a different package quantity, but the product (and UPC) remain the same. Do I need to assign a unique UPC for a package of 2 and a package of 4, for example?

Hi there @Seller_HQAdO4PpUngrS,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions about quantity variations for FBA. For each quantity size you will need a different Product ID (UPC), ASIN, and SKU. Each different number of chairs will need their own listings. You will also want to ensure that your chairs will be able to be transported safely when nested together and properly prepped.

When you send the products to FBA the only visible barcode should be the one for the specific quantity chairs. For example the only barcode on the carton of 4 chairs should be the UPC/Product ID/FNSKU for the 4 Chair ASIN. This ensures that the product is properly received. In some cases sellers will include both the individual UPC and the UPC/Product Identifier for the set of four which causes receiving errors or breaks up a product sold as a set. You can learn more about prep via the Packaging and prep requirements help page.

If you have further questions feel free to reach out to me again here.
