New Seller / Ungating

Hi, I am a new seller (2 months old account), and I can't find anything to sell as I am gated from pretty much everything. Is this normal? How can I start if I'm gated from everything? Almost every single listing I checked was requiring an invoice. How long it takes before Amazon allows me to sell?

Yes, this is normal. You should be working with brands directly and getting permission to sell their stuff on Amazon. Hint: you're not going to get permission to sell any of the name branded items you see at your local brick & mortar stores.

Do not believe "gurus" that tell you that you can buy at a B&M and then flip it on Amazon for a profit. Yes, that did work years ago, but it's not true any more. Amazon and brands are clamping down.

Hi @Seller_mL1RORGoYFDus,

Welcome to selling on Amazon and to the Forums.

It's true that some products require approval to sell. Usually with approvals, a direct invoice from the manufacturer or brand is required in most situations. Your best bet is to provide whatever documentation is recommended.

The following links includes information that may help with guiding you on the requirements for products that require approval and how to start selling your products:

Products that require approval

Invoice requirements for when you apply to sell

Guidelines to source products to sell on Amazon

I hope this helps.

Regards,

- Manny
