Help - Item Returned to Sender because it was not claimed at post office
Hey guys. I just got an item returned to me by Canada Post because the buyer did not go and pick it up. I can't find any info about this specific issue. What would you guys do? Refund the whole amount and avoid any possible A-Z claim? Refund the amount minus shipping? Personally, I want to refund the amount minus shipping, why should I have to pay $20+ out of pocket because the buyer didn't bother picking it up? However, is $20 really worth the repercussions if this buyer decides to open a claim? Does Amazon have a strict full refund policy for this kind of thing? Will I get a bad mark for canceling the order? Never dealt with this before so any insight or suggestions would be appreciated!

We refund minus the 20% restocking fee.

they could leave bad review, which you cannot control, it's your choose to give full refund or deduct shipping fee and restocking fee

Just deduct shipping fee for BOTH ways. Canada Post will charge you return shipping fee. Return to sender is NOT a free service.

You will likely lose in an A-Z claim because, technically, if the customer did not receive the package, Amazon considers it as not received by the buyer. From the buyer's perspective, they didn't receive the package, so they will expect you to either resend it or refund their money. In both cases, you will likely receive a negative review and definitely have to pay out of your own pocket. Honestly, I am not siding with Amazon or the customer on this one, but you will probably lose regardless. This is part of dealing with Amazon. On our direct website, customers respect our rules, while on Amazon, customers take advantage of Amazon's buyer-centric rules.

Did you try contacting the buyer? I have personally had Canada Post's site stating they left me a pick-up card, which I never saw/received.
Personally, I would give a full refund. As the previous seller rightfully stated, the buyer never got the package and would therefore expect to pay nothing.
But first, at least try contacting the buyer to see what's going on. Maybe they might want you to re-send it and pay for the original shipping. At least there will be no surprises at the buyer's end.
Good luck.

The best advice you're going to get just straight talk, we talk about on here and your here it over and over again Policy,Policy. At the end of the day Amazon is all about Customer Service and will do anything to make them happy including going against there own policies.
This Customer didn't pick up his product, we have no idea why could have been sick who knows, he deserves all his money back he didn't receive anything. Is that good for you absolutely not but it's the cost of doing business sometimes on here and not going through the A-Z process which is bound to happen in the case and maybe a negative review which will affect your business just not worth it.
There's a lot of Technical Sellers on here which will talk Policy, which we should all follow I get it, but sometimes policies isn't worth the paper it's written on, Great Customer service first and Policies second and you'll never go wrong on here just my opinion all the best.

like others, I would eat it and consider it good customer service.
That being said, what we do to try to avoid these situations is always select the option to be notified of the deliveries. That way, if the delivery is not done and the package sits at Canada Post, you will be notified one week before the package is slated to be returned to sender. In which case we reach out to the client with a friendly reminder that in one week’s time it will be returned…just in case they never received the notification card. Every single, they are thrilled with the level of service and thank us for the reminder and the package is picked up in less than 48 hours. We’ve never had one returned to us for non pick-up by the client. It’s a little added work, but at the same time, it saves us money and offers good customer service.
