Amazon Sealed Trading Card Inventory is Final Sale - Third Party FBA Inventory of Same ASIN is 30 day returns

We always thought Amazon was unaware that factory sealed trading cards need to be non returnable and this was just an issue of them trying to overplease customers.

We now have the very dark truth.

We realized last weekend that Amazon does know and is deliberately only protecting themselves.

img

We found that for all trading cards listings on Amazon.com - the ships from and sold by Amazon inventory is final sale, non-returnable, while third party seller FBA inventory of that same item is fully returnable.

Almost seems hard to believe the audacity - but screenshot above. Check any other .com trading card products Amazon carries - all are the same. There are no accidents here - the truth is dark.

We wanted to believe that the well over $100,000 Amazon has allowed dishonest customers to steal from us the past couple years was because they were unaware. This coupled with all the inbound product Amazon loses or steals from us and handles extremely poorly in reimbursement cases - and......well the truth is very dark indeed.

It gets much worse.

The cherry on top is Amazon recently took away our ability to sell Pokemon because of all the complaints that were entirely caused by them allowing customers to buy our authentic sealed Pokemon cards, rip and steal the best contents, and return the remnants for a full refund. FBA regularly then resells those tampered products to next customer who are furious.

The crazy part is suppose in this reversal of reality we are the bad guy...well, since we started wrapping all our product in tamper evident tape - there has been no negative feedback about FBA mishandling returns and reselling. Again we are the ones at fault here?! Mind you first round thieves are still doing their dishonest returns, but at least it seems FBA is no longer reselling those returns since the tampering is more evident.

It's terrifying to live this reversal of truth that we have been subjected to and now we are somehow to blame for this and have 1100 stranded units in FBA and a broken automated appeal process - all of this so irrefutably caused entirely by Amazon's broken policies. Sick. No other words from this 10 year seller with almost 35 years of industry experience.

This is so wrong Amazon, when does it stop?

Amazon return policies are despicable at the least... Such a hypocrisy! Not to mention that other countries marketplaces have different return policies for same product categories (trading cards are not returnable in Japan and several other countries).

Amazon is losing business and shooting themselves in the foot - selection of products offered by third-party sellers is going down, or sellers switch exclusively to FBM - which affects speed of delivery to customers, which in turn affects their decision to even buy the product.

I just submitted a withdrawal request for most of my sealed products from FBA warehouses. The last drop was a scammer, who ordered 4 products, one by one, and submitted a refund for all of them! Not only I lose about 60$ in return fees, I lose value of products (with Amazon new reimbursement policy they just blatantly reject my sourcing price, despite providing valid invoices), and risk negative reviews because they resell opened products... Enough is enough.

I could speak for days about all the things that are wrong with Amazon in this country (I have experience selling on Amazon in Middle East - and oh boy, what a different experience it is! So much better, transparent, efficient and fair to sellers!).

There you go... This isn't called business, and we are out. Every disbursement is lower 10-20% than it should've been, because of refunds (fraudulent refunds). And there's absolutely no way to stop it or to report fraudsters, so we'll just take our business elsewhere.

Hope Amazon is happy.
