[Request Manual Review] Product Misclassified as Category I – Should Be Category II per ISED RSS-216

I'm requesting a manual review for a compliance case related to a listing that was removed from Amazon.ca. The system appears to have incorrectly classified our product as a Category I device, requiring an IC certification number, which does not apply in our situation.

Our product is a wireless power transfer (WPT) device that does not contain any radio transmitter (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee). According to ISED Canada RSS-216 Issue 2, Section 1.2, such devices are Category II and do not require certification.

RSS-216 Issue 2, Section 1.2 – Certification

“Devices covered under this standard that do not contain any radio transmitter (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc.) are classified as Category II equipment, and do not require certification under the Radio Standards Specification (RSS) program. However, these devices must still comply with all applicable technical requirements, including labelling and notice requirements set out in this standard and in ICES-Gen.”

We have already uploaded product label photos with the required ISED compliance statement in both English and French. However, the system continues to reject the product, requesting an IC number that is not applicable to Category II devices.

Please refer to our support case for more details:

Case ID: 17792752331

We kindly request that a compliance specialist reviews this case manually and confirms the proper classification under ISED regulations.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi there, I'm currently facing a similar issue. My product is an AirTag holder, which doesn't contain any electronic or wireless components, so it technically doesn't require ISED certification.

May I ask if your issue was resolved? And if so, how did you manage to resolve it? I'd really appreciate any insights you can share.

Hello @Seller_zDrC9sVDr2QAE

The team in charge has reviewed your case and the information you provided in the case ID 17792752331,

Please see their response below:

" We are unable to reinstate B0DY89BG1N.

Please note that the provided images with reference "CAN RSS-216 / CNR-216" on a label/sticker. However, the image needs to be clearly visibly on the product itself.

If the label/sticker it is not compliant with the labelling requirements set forth in the Radio Standards Specification for Wireless Power Transfer Devices, RSS-216, Issue 3."

Christine.

Hi there, I am currently facing a similar problem as well. My product was taken down due to missing the ISED certification code. After I provided it, the Amazon review team stated that they had approved the review. But they never helped me restore the product listing. Despite submitting complete ISED compliance documents, including official certification numbers, IC ID and HVIN numbers, as well as ISED approval emails, Amazon continues to reject my appeal with a generic response.

May I ask if your issue has been resolved? I really appreciate you sharing any insights.
