BEWARE OF OUTLET DEAL

I wanted to share my recent experience with an outlet deal. Like most sellers out there, I had too much aging inventory and since I'm not int he US, I did not have too many alternatives. I could have done a removal order and send to a 3PL, but that could take months. In my inventory, it indicated that I would incur a surcharge of over $900 on my aging inventory so I thought that the outlet deal was the way to go. I had 1,200 units of my main ASIN and the outlet deal let me know that I would likely sell 68 units which was not alot but I thought that I would likely sell 200 and I would only lose around $400 for that inventory given the 30% discount. Well, I sold 50 units the first day and 50 units the next day. I called to see if I could cancel and they said no as this was a paid promotion. I had to watch 600 unit leave my inventory and there was nothing I could do about it. Thousands of dollars in inventory loses as well as the Amazon fees that will likely break my small business. And to top it all off, I will have to spend on the new shipping fees to replace this inventory as I'm coming up to the busiest time of the year for me. To add further insults to injury, I still have to pay an aging surcharge of $700.

If Amazon if offering outlet deals and providing estimates on how many we will sell, at least let us put a limit on the number of units since we don't have the ability to cancel. I won't likely survive but at least someone might be able to read this post and my warning.
