Amazon "Selling Role"

Has any been told by Amazon that they need to be assigned a "Selling Role"?

Here's some background. We're a 3rd Party Seller and we've been given Administrator rights through Brand Registry from the Brand we're working with to sell their goods. Our team is working on creatives for StoreFront and A+ Content creation, however, when we login to Seller Central and open up the StoreFront builder the Brand we're trying to create this content for is nowhere to be found. (We have created other Brands StoreFronts with the same Administrator Role)

We've opened a case with Amazon to shed some light on our situation, but Amazon will not define a "Selling Role." The case is still open as we're not letting this go. We've done a few Google searches to try and understand what a "Selling Role" is, but its nonexistent, can't find one thing about it on Google.

Anybody else ever been told they need a "Selling Role" by Amazon?

Yes.

Its absurd...but they like to see that you are a Rights Owner as well as an Administrator.

Can you ask the brand to assign you the role as "Rights Owner" on top of Administrator? If Amazon asks again, you can just repeat that you are both the administrator and rights owner for the brand "x" and that usually ends their confusion.

I believe Amazon has updated some terminology. Read over this - Brand Registry protection roles

Once you’ve enrolled your brand in Amazon Brand Registry, you’re automatically assigned the roles of Rights Owner and Administrator. You can now invite users to your brand and assign them roles. The roles you assign determine which tools users can access within Brand Registry.

Note: Only the Administrator can assign roles.

Personally OI don't believe that any brand owner should give someone else " Rights Owner as well as an Administrator."

Hello @Seller_NwIx0Gq52rYwx

My name is Sandy from the Community Manager team here on forums. Please check the Brand Registry user FAQ page for this information.

Protection roles are a group of permissions that can be assigned to a Brand Registry user who accepted an invitation to join your brand, to enable addition of trademarks, brand user administration and Report a Violation tool usage.

There are three available protection roles for Brand Registry accounts connected with your brand:

  1. Administrator: An individual who has full permission to assign roles to user accounts.
  2. Rights Owner: The trademark owner or their employee who has access to use Report a violation and brand protection benefits.
  3. Registered Agent: A third party who is authorized by the Rights Owner to use Report a violation and brand protection benefits.

There are two selling roles that a brand administrator can assign to provide benefits to sellers:

  1. Brand Representative: An internal, first-party seller who is directly employed by your brand.
  2. Reseller: An external, third-party seller authorized by the brand to sell goods and services on Amazon.

Please check the FAQ page for instructions on how your brand administrator can give you access to these roles.

Thank you.

Sandy
