Need Help: Changing Product Packaging Size to Reduce FBA Storage Fees
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on changing the packaging dimensions for one of my FBA products. Currently, the box is a bit overkill, and I'm pretty sure I could use a smaller one to save on storage fees.
Has anyone gone through this process before? I'm trying to figure out the best way to update the product's dimensions in Amazon's system.
Specifically, I'm wondering:
What's the correct procedure for officially changing these dimensions?
Are there any specific hoops I need to jump through or approvals needed before I send in new inventory with smaller boxes?
Will changing the dimensions affect any existing inventory that's already sitting in Amazon's warehouses, or will it only apply to new shipments?
My main goal is to switch to more compact packaging that accurately reflects the product's size and, more importantly, helps cut down on those FBA storage costs.
Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!

If the ASIN is unchanged, amazon will not be able to track the difference between existing old large stock and newer smaller stock size.
You would need to either sell out of the product or send what's left of the old size back to you. Then send in the new smaller boxes with updated dimensions (you may need to get the warehouse to remeasure).
Or setup a separate ASIN for the new size of box and perhaps market it as new and improved 8-)

If op did this, they would have to get a new GS1 UPC/EAN barcode as well as it is no longer the same product.
