Star rating not getting updated.

I have a listing which had 2 reviews one with 5 stars and other with 2 stars makes it 3.5. One day a new review with 5 star came and now it has 3 reviews and still the review rating is 3.5. It has not added up. It should actually go to 4. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you.

Review rating is not an average so it's normal.

This is from Amazon:

How we calculate overall star ratings

Amazon calculates a product's star rating using machine-learned models instead of a simple average.

These models consider factors such as how recent the rating or review is and verified purchase status. They use multiple criteria that establish the authenticity of the feedback. The system continues to learn and improve over time.

We do not consider customer ratings without an Amazon Verified Purchase status in a product's overall star rating until a customer adds more details in the form of text, image, or video.

Hi @Seller_szlbXl8s4qfkp,

Daryl here from our Forums Team, allow me to clarify your concern on how we manage star ratings.

Amazon calculates a product's star ratings using machine-learned models instead of a simple average like @Seller_ajCJOZui4s7sBmentioned. These models take into account numerous factors including how recent the rating or review is, Verified Purchase status, and use multiple criteria that establish authenticity of the feedback. The system continues to learn and improve over time. One-tap reviews with Verified Purchase status will count toward the overall star rating.

We also need to take into reference that there are several reasons why a customer’s reviews may have been removed. Here are some examples:

- The customer who submitted the review has deleted it.

- Our moderation team removed a review for not complying with Amazon Community Guidelines.

- We discovered that multiple items were linked together on our website incorrectly. Reviews that were posted on those pages were removed when the items were separated on the site.

- We detected unusual review behavior and are not accepting reviews for the item at this time or are only accepting Amazon Verified Purchase reviews.

You can have more insight through the following help page:

Customer product reviews

If you feel the number of star ratings is not adding up, please do let me know to submit an investigation on your behalf.

Leaving my comment here to verify everything is running smoothly under your account, our job is to provide you all through forums a very selling experience.

All the best in future sales!
