No need for any confusion. It all depends of that you sell. are the products that buyers would buy for themselves or are they products that buyers would purchase as a gift. Sales are increased at this time of the year, and so does the reason for shopping.

Based on what you sell and who your target market is... sales will either drastically increase or decrease during the holidays.
If you sell gift type items...sales should increase but remember everyone and their brother is offering holiday promos/discounts/sales and sometimes it becomes sensory overload for buyers. You really need to offer something to make your products stand out above the rest to get any notice.
If you sell non-gift items such as non necessity office type products to consumers for example, these type of products may see slower sales as consumer budgets are being stretched thin due to the holidays. If you sell to businesses, then it may even out over time.

about 2 weeks ago is when our buy box (and sales) dropped in half, after investigating we found that it was because amazon has added a day to projected delivery times due to yearly holiday backlog
