Hazmat limit reduced to 0 without a warning and now facing overage fees for instock inventory
Hello,
First of, our account is in good standing and we only use FBA. We had ample hazmat space for our use and we successfully sold products from distributors of hazmat products on a normal basis.
We received an email today (February 7th) stating the following:
****
"Hello,
Following a regular assessment of our capacity storage limits, we reduced the dangerous goods storage limits in Canada on February 5, 2024. This change only affects dangerous goods storage limits in Canada, and no other countries are affected.
Shipments already on the way to fulfilment centres will be received normally. You can monitor your limits and usage with the Capacity Monitor located at the bottom of the FBA Dashboard."
*****
Nothing fancy here, just a recalculation of our inventory space, or so I thought.
When I went to check the CAPACITY MONITOR, our DANGEROUS GOODS limit is now 0.01 which means basically 0.
We currently have items in stock which sell well and we are being threatened by "overage fees" as we are using 322.44% used (0.03 of 0.01 cubic metres) ... "you will be charged an FBA storage overage fee at a rate of $460 per cubic metre per month".
We have never received a notice about our hazmat space being removed and we have no time to react as this email is already 48h past the final decision which seems a bit out of whack.
We currently have an order waiting to be shipped to us from the distributor but I put a halt on it since I am now faced with this strange situation.
I opened a case : 14750729891 ... hoping this is a glitch and it will be escalated to the hazmat department for review.
Needless to say, this situation is a bit chaotic as we are left in the unknown as to why this is happening.
I saw a post on the forums for this situation that has happened to others 5 and 9 months ago and it was resolved with mods stepping in to escalate the ticket to the "appropriate team".
Hopefully a mod can help out or someone could lend a hand with advice if they have any insight.
Thank you,

I already have a reply to my case:

"We understand your concern and please know that we are here to support you and address any concerns you may have.
On checking the details, I could see that 0.03 of 0.01 cubic metres has been used. Your on-hand usage exceeds your total capacity limit. As a result, you are incurring overage fees on the on-hand usage above your capacity limit. Please be informed that effective March 1, 2023, we're replacing the weekly restock limit and quarterly storage limit with a single monthly capacity limit per storage type to give you more predictability and control over your inventory.
If you have FBA capacity limits but could use more capacity for products that you expect to be popular with customers, you can request an increase to your capacity limits.
To submit a request, go to Capacity Manager:
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/inventory-storage/storage-request/limit-increase"

The agent understands that I have a problem but suggests that I ask for my storage capacity to be raised but when I visit that link, there is no option to ask for a more Hazmat space.
All I want is the SAME or at least an average of the amount of space we were using previously.
I will phrase my question differently, hoping he escalates this to the hazmat team but my hopes are not very high from previous experience with SS.
Hopefully a mod can step in and take this to the next step.
Thank you in advance

Someone replied to my new case asking me for details on units and details of how much "DG" space I need.
He asked me about CUBIC FEET and asked me the type of DG space I need between FLAMMABLE and AEROSOL... which gives me the impression that he thinks I'm talking about the HAZMAT space in the USA.
I made it clear that I needed the CANADA marketplace fixed and gave him all the details he ask in CUBIC METER.
Hoping this will be resolved quickly and not break our USA Hazmat space.
In the meantime if any mod sees this and can push it in the correct direction, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your assistance.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We request you to Please try again at a later date.
We understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for in this situation.

So, to recap, we had DG Hazmat space for a few years now, we were selling hazmat products via FBA, on February 7th, we received an email dated from February 5th, saying our space was reassessed to 0.01 which is basically nothing and then to resolve this, I had to ask for more space which was then rejected...
So essentially, Amazon destroyed our opportunity of selling DG Hazmat products out of nowhere, without previous notice and then threaten to charge us OVERAGE fees for our current in-stock inventory.
How is this fair?
Why not give us a clear message saying, "We're removing your DG Hazmat FBA storage starting on March 1st 2024. You have 90 days to sell your current inventory." ???
How do they expect us to run a business with legitimate distributors and purchasing agreements when on a whim, they can just remove your access to the delivery network which actually made this whole endeavour possible?
I can't continue supporting these products using FBM, we do not have the capacity nor the ressources, so what now?
Can a moderator step in and help us get back our DG Hazmat space?
