You can file an FBA returns reimbursement claim if FBA, as the customer is required by Amazon policy to send back the same item they received and ordered.

Serial numbers vs the box, or if it's missing serial number and had one, then I would claim with that against FBA reimbursement request. Lately it's been brutal with the reimbursements getting denied left and right though.
