The brokerage fees UPS charges on international shipping are totally ridiculous. No other carrier does that.

We just shipped an FBM order to Canada (NYC - Quebec). Item cost $36 and buyer paid $21 for shipping. Today buyer contacts us and says UPS charged them $68 brokerage fee that is totally absurd. Buyer complained that this fee was not mentioned anywhere when they were making a purchase. Of course, it was not since it is up to a seller to choose how an international order is shipped.

This particular order was, in fact, our first international order for which we chose UPS as a carrier as it seemed to be the cheapest. Seemed... We had been only using DHL for our other international orders since we never could create a label for UPS (that issue took months for Amazon to resolve) and there is none of such nonsense with DHL. We pay the label cost and that is it.

When we heard from that buyer on the exuberant broker's fee I remembered that a couple of months ago I tried to purchase a UPS label through an app to ship some of my personal stuff and once I did it I was warned by the app that UPS charges broker's fee on international shipping. This is how I knew and cancelled the label.

Amazon seemingly could not care less to warn its sellers of this potential additional expense. Moreover, there is no way to know exactly what the broker's fee is going to be until an order is ready to be delivered to a buyer. How cool is that?

Considering this UPS add-on and the absence of a warning about such for sellers on Amazon SC, it would be best if Amazon excludes UPS as an option for international shipping.

We feel for this buyer - I would not want to buy something, pay almost as much for shipping and then pay more than both of these to UPS. We will have to refund this customer and will lose money on this sale. And UPS is just going out of control.
