"Merge Duplicate Product Pages" Amazon Tool Is Unusable and Completely Useless (!)

I am very *frustrated* to say the least.

I am the official registered brand owner, but Amazon doesn't allow me to merge duplicate listings of exactly the same product. All the duplicate listing ASIN's have the [brand_name] attribute exactly the same (my brand, which is enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry).

Case ID's 14581751401, 14575496291 for example.

Amazon says: "These ASINs do not qualify for merging.

We were unable to merge these two ASINs because one or more attributes weren't the same. According to our policy, all attributes for the products must match, such as:

- Manufacturer, brand, and product ID

- Packaging

- Accessories and features

- Quantity" End quote.

Of course, those duplicate ASIN's have different "External Product ID" (UPC / EAN).

Because as Amazon Seller, you are not able to create two ASIN's with the same "External Product ID" (UPC / EAN).

Therefore, it becomes impossible now to merge any 2 duplicate listings of exactly the same product because they have different "External Product ID" (UPC / EAN) attributes in the Amazon Catalog.

And Amazon does not allow anyone to change "External Product ID" once this ASIN has been created in the Catalog.

It looks like the "Merge Duplicate Product Pages" Amazon Tool Is Unusable and Completely Useless (!)

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello @Seller_gngOKydAKa7Ey- thanks for sharing this here on forums! Danny from Amazon here to assist if I can. I wanted to let you know that after reviewing this situation in full, there are a couple different reasons prohibiting the merge.

Certain attributes of the listings do not match beyond just the UPCs that would need to match in order for a merge to be supported. I would recommend reviewing your listings against our product detail page rules, and against each other, to make any needed updates.

I also see that you are currently working with our Account Health team on account level issues through this thread as well, which, as I understand it, will need to be rectified before updating the attributes of your ASINs.

Thanks again for the post, and I do hope this information helps.

Best,

Danny

Best,

Danny
