Approved Vendors
I am a new amazon seller and need approval to sell most named brands that are currently restricted. If I buy a named brand product, like Adidas and show amazon that the receipt coming from Walmart.com, is that an approved vendor or do I have to buy from Adidas own website to get approved to sell?

Neither of those will work. What you're proposing is Retail Arbitrage. Retail arbitrage is dead on Amazon and no longer allowed.
You'll need to contact Adidas (or whatever brand) directly for permission to sell on Amazon, obtain a Letter of Authorization, then buy directly from the brand (wholesale, not their retail website) or one of their authorized distributors. The large brands have been cleaning house on Amazon so your chances of being able to sell a brand like that is rather unlikely.
There are many many excellent threads in the forum on the subject if you search, but I'll point you to this one in particular.
@Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp also provides excellent information in this post on sourcing.
