Amazon officially allows fraud?
I've been through countless forum discussions where sellers are outraged that amazon will allow a credit card chargeback so ultimately the customer keeps the item and is refunded the full amount. It's literally fostering buyer fraud.
In my case - I was charged a chargeback claim of $199 for an order. This order was sent on time, using amazon buy shipping for which I 'should' be protected as an Amazon seller. I provided a valid tracking code that shows the item was delivered on time.
The customer never initiated a return but did a chargeback with their credit card company.
The first chargeback claim was defended correctly, saying "You are not responsible, we successfully defended the chargeback." Now (60 days later) another chargeback for the same item was issued saying "You are responsible for this chargeback, and you funded the buyer reimbursement." Now the customer has the item and also was refunded the full amount, which is theft.
Anyone at Amazon @Danny_Amazon or @KJ_Amazon care to help resolve this? If not, can we just please make the official statement that Amazon fosters buyer fraud?

Amazon buy shipping does not protect you from a chargeback.

"Amazon officially allows fraud?"
Yes, yes they do.
This is my standard template. Use what fits and REPORT, REPORT, REPORT!
I don't have a solution for Amazon allowing theft and fraud BUT if this was shipped using the USPS please report the issue to the Postal Inspectors as mail fraud. If not, report it to the carrier.
ALSO the Government has a site IC3 (Amazon will remove the link if I put it here but it’s part of the FBI for an easy search) where you can report the use of the internet for theft if it was UPS, FedEx or whatever. It is generally used to report on websites but it can be used to report buyers as well if you happen to encounter one of the Amazon scam crowd.
In all cases it at least puts the con artists into a data base for future reference by the authorities.
There's an OLD saying -- If you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem.
PLEASE REPORT, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.
And, DO NOT forget the Police Department where you are, as well as where the 'buyer' is!

I love that a seller can be responsible for a chargeback when we have no customer information to look at . Amazon can see if a buyer just signed up for an account, has charged $20,000 worth of orders that day, has a history of issues etc.

I was under the impression that if a buyer forced a second chargeback for the same order that it would automatically be granted by Amazon and funded by the seller.
Last October I had a buyer commit return fraud (switcharoo return) and we decided to fight it hard. I documented everything photos, messages, proof of tampering, serial number discrepancy, the whole 9.
I ended up winning BOTH chargeback cases somehow, I included all the info I could and didn't give into the buyers threats. I ended up with a horrible negative review on my seller profile from the fraudster (still trying to have it removed to this day), but it was worth it, no shot this guy is trying that again, they are out $500 bucks.

Its total horse sheet as if you use Amazon shipping Amazon clearly has all shipping and delivery details as it is their shipping account! Amazon allows this as they make money on transactions now customer get their money back and can make even more transactional purchases.

@Seller_sARBF9qkCqOKBSame exact scenario happened to us about 2-3 months ago and we heard it's common. Best thing to do is to report them to a Moderator here and let them make a note/trail on what the buyer did. If unreported, they can continue to hurt Amazon and other 3P sellers. Eventually they will get caught and will be banned from buying on the site. Don't let it get to you too much, just write it off and move forward, best of luck!

Very typical for me that a lost a to z immediately goes to a chargeback. It must be in some 'how to scam' forum somewhere.

I'm sorry that this happened, but unfortunately there is essentially no recourse for sellers like us.
It sucks but it's the system Amazon has created and encouraged. Everyone is so entitled anymore and Amazon has conditioned them to be able to do whatever they want with absolutely no consequences. As long as they shop on Amazon, right? Amazon customers (which is everyone but me, it feels like sometimes) are like those spoiled kids in the neighborhood who are bullies while their parents treat them like angels. Life on Amazon just sucks.
We manufacture apparel in Pittsburgh (crazy that it's not imported, I know!). We get chargebacks as well as returns of clearly used stuff that is gross and not laundered (bike shorts and stuff...not something you want to get back once it is used). And Amazon just gives the customer their money back. Sometimes after an exhaustive amount of SAFE-T Claim appeals we get some of the money back, but it's laughable the amount of time we have to pour into it just to get something (not all...just something) when we clearly did nothing wrong and the customer is intentionally taking advantage.
I'm really sorry. Good luck.

Write it off as a loss and move on.
But seriously, Amazon Buy Shipping (with auto transit and handling) will protect against INR claims.
Switcharoos and damaged returns can be handled through SAFE-T claims.
What is unbearable is when the returns that require SAFE-T claims pile up
