If the buyer did not request a replacement through Amazon and you just sent one, then they are under no obligation to return the original. Amazon only gives you so much time to process a refund before they do it for you.

Did the replacement order show up in your regular orders, or did the customer e-mail you and ask for a replacement? If they officially requested one, then there should be a return open for the other item. You'd get paid for the replacement you sent and the return request will close automatically once you receive the item back.
