Amazon listing products as generic and violating their own policies
Came across this listing today. I suppose rules don't apply to Amazon when it comes to listing policies. Nature Valley product listed as generic, Amazon is one of the sellers. Is this a common thing for Amazon to do, while hitting 3P sellers with violations if they do the same thing? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DPXVS897

You are correct. The rules that apply to 3P sellers don't always apply to Amazon.
I'm actually super surprised to see Amazon selling on a generic listing, especially since this is a real brand I could go to the grocery store and purchase.

Hey guys – the OP is asking a legitimate question.
Does AMAZON have ANY integrity left at all or did it all get sold off to the offshore accounts that can get away with this CR$#?
PLEASE SUSPEND YOURSELVES!

Do you know the saying "do as I say and not as I do"? This is applied here!

Play by the rules or get off the playing field....
Yeh, you own the field.
But the moral low ground does not get you admiration by the other players....
Yes Amazon, we know. You do not care one way or the other.... You do not want our respect. All you want is our $$........

That just means that a VC seller added that ASIN to the list. When you have a VC account, you just add UPCs or ASINs in as a supplier then "Amazon" sells it.
As a side note, I spent about 2 years of my life right behind Harmons by you!

Hypocrisy is Amazon's middle name; they literally break their own rules (as vague as they are) everyday. If Amazon was a 3P seller they would have been suspended 5 years ago.
This is about as blatant violation as I have seen; I guarantee no mod will touch this with a 10 foot pole since they clearly value keeping their jobs over actually doing them.
Just another example of the toxic mess that is Amazon; acid lake backfilled with alligators and piranhas.

Good Afternoon @Seller_LB7QZfBHi19dH,
I just wanted to check in with everyone on this discussion and share that the listing has been removed.
In case you see future listings like this, you can report these ASINs with the following steps:
- Submit a report through the "Report Abuse" feature
- Select "Product Detail Page Violates Amazon's Policy or is misleading to Customers"
- When filling out the form, you are able to report the original (the one listed under the brand) and then the "duplicate" (generic ASIN). In the notes 'Please describe your issue' section, we suggest sellers to provide as much relevant details as possible regarding the situation that you can gather (ASIN creation date, reporting similarities in detail page etc...)
- If your report is declined, please create a discussion on Seller Forums and share the complaint ID that was given to you at the time you filed the report so we can escalate it to the appropriate team.
Appreciate you flagging this to us. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday!
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

I've seen amazon not follow their own policies a few times in my 11-year selling on the platform
