Victim of return fraud case — what to do next?

We are the victim of a return fraud case, order number 112-2880091-8612212. The Amazon A-to-Z team is enabling return fraud. We were unable to upload our evidence in the appeal to the A-to-Z team, which rejected our appeal. We are wondering if there are any further paths forward to escalate the case and allow us to provide our photographic evidence to the A-to-Z team or any Amazon department which can hold the A-to-Z team accountable when they treat third-party sellers unfairly.

A presumed first year law student in Houston purchased a $219.99 textbook from us on July 24, but returned some photocopied material and a notebook on August 8. The buyer lied and submitted a return request on August 4 with the reason “wrong item was sent.” Amazon granted the claim and denied our appeal on August 31 because they “determined the merchandise for the order was correctly returned and you have received the return.”

We have photographic evidence and the USPS receipt to prove that we sent the buyer the correct book. The package we mailed to the buyer weighed 5 lb 14.8 oz, but their return package weighed only 4.25 lb.We also shrinkwrap and take photos of every book before packing it in order to make sure that we send the correct book to the buyer and to protect ourselves from fraud.

The buyer never contacted us about the order or refund and never responded to our emails. We do not sell notebooks and the notebook she sent to us could not even fit in the recycled packaging that we used to mail the order in.

We filed a police report with the Houston Police Department against the buyer for mail fraud, but we don’t expect to get back our money. The seller forum is the last place we can think of to seek help. Thank you!
