Amazon ENCOURAGES fraud if you ship without tracking
I sell decals. I sell in many marketplaces. Because my product is small and flat, there is no carrier that offers tracking. The post office used to offer it, but the changes in rules that require 1/4 inch thick for tracking has left me without any means to track a package. I understand the risk, and I'm willing to refund if a package is legitimately lost. But Amazon does something no other marketplace does. It encourages fraud.
Because my product is under $10, Amazon allows me to ship without tracking and keep a 100% VTR. However, what Amazon does not tell you is that ALL these orders will be MARKED AS LOST by Amazon and eligible for a refund. Amazon literally marks the order as lost in the customer's orders. This is why Amazon is the only platform that has so many refunds compared to all other marketplaces.
How do I know? Because that's what seller support just told me.

If an order does not have tracking it is considered lost as it cannot be tracked.

So what you are saying is that the policy that allows sellers to ship without tracking if the product is under $10 also includes the policy that Amazon will mark all the orders as lost and allow any customer to request a refund.

Please clarify that is the policy.

As mentioned that order ids without tracking cannot be tracked and are considered lost.

I received confirmation from our partner team that beginning this week we have updated the message US customers see for packages shipped without tracking information, such as small/flat items under $10 shipped in USPS first-class envelopes.
This update aims to provide a more informative and reassuring experience for customers awaiting their deliveries, while informing them of the package details and the likely delivery status. These updates should reduce the number of customers who reach out requesting refunds.
