Unable to charge? What's the problem?

Pretty sure the credit card has no problem. Changed to several other card, same thing.

Is something wrong with Amazon again?

Charge for what? What type of charge method are you using-debit card or credit card?

A debit card will work for accounts fees, but you need a valid credit card to list and sell on Amazon.

Hello @Seller_3RoLAuCqvb4QW

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums.

When you register as a seller, you must enter a credit card that will accept international charges and that has a valid billing address located in an eligible country.

Amazon accepts the following credit cards:

  • American Express
  • Diners Club
  • Discover
  • JCB
  • MasterCard
  • Visa

Please note that alternative charge methods, such as prepaid cards, gift certificates, checks, or online payment systems like PayPal are not accepted.

I have included a help page below that details credit card and bank account requirements as well as how to update credit card information for your seller account:

Bank account and credit or debit card information for your seller account

Add, delete, and verify your credit or debit card information

If you are still experiencing a concern, I would suggest opening a case with our Support team for troubleshooting. If you have already opened one, please feel free to post the case ID number here and I can take a look.

I have the same problem. The credit card I have been using for 8 months without any problems was not accepted by Amazon today. I went to the bank and had it checked and they said there was no problem with the card and it was open for all kinds of payments. I added another card but still the same problem. My list is still active, but since I cannot log in to the system, I cannot respond to new messages and orders. I opened 3 cases and even though I said I had contacted the bank, they still told me to contact the bank. How can I solve the problem?

We had this problem. Not sure if this is the issue, but I had several cards denied that all either had an apartment number or a suite number attached to the billing address. Once my business partner put in one of her cards that didn't have an apartment number it worked. Not sure if this will help you, but it's what worked for us.

This happened to me yesterday. The US major bank credit card I've used on Amazon for 10-20 years got the same message. I have a positive balance here so there is NO reason for Amazon to charge the card in the first place. I also contacted my credit card company and was told there was absolutely no problem with the card; other charges on it processed fine. I was furious because I had a pending order that I could not ship nor even see; my entire account was shut down and I could not even see the buyers address to ship outside the system. In fact, I could not see ANY orders at all. "seller support" could not help in any way whatsoever, telling me they could not tell me why it happened to a perfectly functioning card; they then parroted the same boilerplate you listed here, among others, none of which applies to an active card used on Amazon for decades. I finally added a different banks debit (isn't that considered a bad option !?!?!?) card that I do not want to use for this purpose, and that solved the problem. Seller support contacted me that the issue was completed, although I solved it myself and they could give me no assistance with what the issue was. I will have to shut my business down and try re-adding my original card in the next few days, since this error in Amazon's system then blocks all access to my orders and shipping on both my desktop and phone app. It is totally unacceptable and could have destroyed my performance.

Then later in the day, I got an email stating that Amazon could not deposit to my 20 year old bank account (completely different bank). This is apparently a network error on the Amazon side and should never have blocked access to my orders and shipping.

So, I finally found a solution:)

I think Amazon has some problems with MasterCard cards. None of my Mastercard CC's didn't work (different US and EU banks). But when I connected my wife's Wise Visa CC it worked! Hope it will help
