img

Our FBA Sellers here don't let me lie… Missing units from your shipment to the fulfillment center can be easy to resolve, as long as you have all the documents we ask for. If you have gone through this process, and a have any tips to share to make it easier for our first-timers, please help us and drop them in the comments below. If you have any questions or comments because of a current situation, or you are just new to this topic, we will be happy to see those as well.

According to our Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement (the one you accepted when you registered as a Seller on Amazon), under "Fulfillment Services", in the section F-4 Storage:

(...) If there is a loss of or damage to any Units while they are being stored, we will, compensate you in accordance with the FBA Guidelines, and you will, at our request, provide us a valid tax invoice for the compensation paid to you.

The main reason why you are being asked to provide this documentation for your products is for us to be able to calculate the amount owed to you, based on the actual products' cost. It can be the original invoice showing the purchase of the products, and in cases when you are the manufacturer, it can be a copy of the signed packing slip.

Keep in mind that the outcome of the investigation does not depend only on documentation, and you may be asked for additional information in your case with the Investigations team.

These are the minimum requirements that must be met:

Invoice:

  • The date when the purchase was made (must be prior to the shipment date)
  • The quantity of items purchased (must be at least equal to the amount of shipped units)
  • Full name and address of invoice issuer
  • Full name and address of purchaser

Packing slip:

  • Packing list date
  • Shipment or purchase order ID
  • Product names of the missing items
  • Quantity shipped
  • Manufacturer signature or stamp

Please be aware that these documents must be provided in a non-editable format, such as PDF, JPEG or ttyl. If any type of proforma invoice is provided, then it will not be valid to request a reimbursement transaction approval to our credit financial department.

To get the shipment reconciliation started, follow these steps:

  1. In the Inventory menu, from Seller Central, in the section for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), click on Manage FBA Shipments
  2. Find your shipment with issues, and click on Track shipment. This will take you to the Shipment summary.
  3. Move to the Content tab, and here you will find the discrepancies with your shipment (if any), and the fields to start the investigation, in the section Step 2. Upload documents

You can find additional information in our help page, FBA troubleshooting and FAQ.

Don't forget your thumbs up 👍 or down 👎 if this article was useful for you.
