amazon ground shipping double charges be careful using this service
amazon started offering the option to ship via amazon ground shipping in which amazons own drivers pick up and deliver your packages as opposed to using ups or the post office. Everything seemed to be going well until i looked at my payments tab on amazon and i see that for almost every shipment in addition to the shipping charge being billed there is a second charge called incorrect package tier that is larger then the original shipping charge. This charge is in addition to the shipping charge. It was never disclosed and I have no idea what it's for. ( every one of my weights and measurements are correct so it can't be that)I contacted customer service numerous times and they have no idea what this charge is and since they don't know what it's for they have not removed it. I looked on the forums and I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I would advise anybody to think long and hard before using this service as even though initially it looked like i might save money in the end it's costing me more then double what ups would have cost me. If any of the forum moderators can help it would be greatly appreciated as i out hundreds of extra dollars from these charges

I wouldn't DREAM of using any "service" Amazon offers. Every service Amazon offers sellers is a "self-service". I would not touch their customer support, their warehouses, or their delivery services.

Still battling them on this exact same issue. I was getting double or triple charged for packages I had been shipping out via UPS and USPS for months. They did the same thing and claimed it was "incorrect package tier" and hoped I wouldn't notice on the transaction view.
Another insult to injury I'm recently going through is they are outright denying safe-t claims for their own shipping service. Claiming the shipping is through another company SO not only did the safe-t claim team out Amazon for outsourcing their own shipping despite giving zero indication it was being outsourced when selecting Amazon Ground, but they are voiding their Buy Shipping Services policy and denying the claim regardless.
