This is normal. In the US most government and military get a 4 day weekend for the summer holidays. Travel is also common, think beach. Additionally some rural family businesses close so they and thier employees can enjoy the holiday.
Pretty much the only thing open are urban, high volume and brand or franchise retailers that have to be open. (gotta love that city mentality-money before people)
Weekend doesnt do much B2B either.
So yeah, this is to be expected.

The entire month of May has been like Full Stop - worst month in memory. Seemed to coincide with the 'debt ceiling' brouhaha getting hyped, and maybe buyers decided to check into their OWN 'debt ceilings'. Whatever, it is bad.
