I will guide you away from being retail products and attempting to sell them on Amazon. Please use vetted wholesale suppliers and obtain LOAs from brand owners/trademark holders.

Seller University has a great module on sourcing - pay close attention.

RA/OA is very tricky; if you get asked for invoices, either for ungating or IP complaints, you will most likely not be able to submit receipts, and will instead see your account suspended, or at least in danger.

There will be those who will chime in (probably within the next few posts) to tell you that they have been doing this for years, know 15 people who do it, and it is a great way to run a business. Strangely, these same people who promote this as a legitimate way to run a business never seem to show up on the threads (of which there are often at least one a day) of people getting suspended for these very actions.

Do yourself a favor; source from somewhere that you KNOW, not have to guess, will allow you to sell on Amazon. Keep in mind that buying from a wholesale distributor does not always mean that the brand in question wants you to sell on Amazon or other online markets; be sure that the brand approves of you selling, and preferably, get it in writing.

As @Picks_by_Nisha and @invalid_usernamehave stated what you are doing is a bad idea.

I am going to be a bit more direct. You are one mistake away from being shown the exit permanently. And, yes, there are a small group (shrinking by the day/month/year) that will tell you quite vehemently that it is not against the rules. They are TECHNICALLY correct but the 'rules' are what Amazon makes them out to be.

Since what Amazon DOES in their actions is the REAL (unwritten) rule, follow this thread and the comment from an EXCELLENT MOD:

Hi @FlipAholicand thanks for reaching out. I'm not 100% sure I'm following your question. Would you mind restating it and elaborating a bit?

If @NEVERLAST's interpretation is correct--if you're asking about Retail Arbitrage--this is not allowed. He's provided you with some good advice, including the quote from the ever-brilliant @Dougal_Amazon.

Given that you're new to Amazon, I'm going to add to @NEVERLAST's suggestion that you study on Seller University and provide a link to resources for new sellers. The For beginners: Fundamentals of selling with Amazon series contains articles, videos, and webinars to help you get up and running as a seller on Amazon.

I hope this is helpful and that you enjoy the rest of your day.

Best,

- Danika"

History is NOT on the side of RA/OA/dropshipping.

Here is another response from another really good MOD on a different thread:

"Hi @WeltproduktLLC

Thank you for the case ID. I see how it could have been confusing with the ask for invoices, but then another comment on "we are not accepting applications." I apologize for this frustration so hopefully I can make it clear for you.

First I found that your product is a branded item on Amazon. When sellers sell branded items they will have to either 1. Be the trademark owner/brand owner that owns that brand. Or 2. Have a letter of authorization from the brand owner (not from the authorized distributor) to have the rights to sell that brand on their behalf.

My question to you is do you have either 1 or 2?

Please let me know if you have questions.

best,

Sandy "

The internet sales landscape has shifted. Congress has passed laws stripping websites of what they had perceived as protection from lawsuits for selling stolen merchandise and that includes gray market stuff as well since there is no 'chain of custody'.

My tea leave reading the past MANY months is that they are cleaning house and removing sellers by the hundreds that have been doing RA and other things such as gray market sales that have been ignored on here for years.

As an added tip. If you do RA/OA or drop shipping the correct way, be sure you are familiar with the physical product and it's use. I ordered some hardware to replace my damaged one. There was a piece missing. The seller didn't understand what I meant when I either needed the missing part or to exchange. (The sellers return address was correctly on the package, but drop shippers invoice was inside) I ended up just returning it and wasn't even sure where to send it back.

You should join an external RA/OA group, like one found on discord. Seller forums are very hostile towards these business models. Lots of misinformation, conflicting information, and just general hostility on here unfortunately.

Even if Amazon lets you list the items, first complaint you risk your items being destroyed and account issues. i have my own brand, but the few times I have tried to sell something not under my brand, it backfires. Either ensure the person who can enforce the brand's rights on Amazon gives you permission, or private label items. The factory and brand rights owner are often not the same thing on Amazon.

- an invoice (NOT a receipt) from an authorized wholesaler of that product with your complete business information (including your resale / tax number)

- a plan for how you are going to transfer your sourced items to Amazon (FBA) or to yourself (FBM) for storage, and for packing and shipping when you get an order.

-"ungating" is beside the point, Amazon has a tendency to ungate things and then to demand the paperwork described above. If you cannot produce it, you may lose your selling privileges permanently

Who has suggested to you that you can do this? Have you been through Amazon Seller University enough times that you can understand what is required? You need:

-A Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the brand owner / rights-holder of the product you are trying to sell
